I found this diagram depicting the differences between the old food pyramid and the new food pyramid and I found it amusing. I remember learning about the old food pyramid in elementary school and how they told us this was a healthy way to eat, but now that all these new studies are showing the possible dangers and unhealthiness of typical foods, I guess they needed to change up the layout of the chart. Based on some of the nutritional headlines I've seen lately warning people to cut down on dairy and red meat, I'd say that this new food pyramid is effective (as long as the new studies are verified). Some of the layers have been switched such as the grain and vegetables/fruits layer, showing viewers that, unlike previously thought, you should eat more fruits and veggies than you should grains. Even though I may not follow these guidelines to a tee, I believe that the new food pyramid is better and healthier.
