#forsocialgood This is a poster that I designed for an educational media class to promote a radio podcast on the effects of screen time for NPR's Fresh Air. The concept was to make the phone look like a refreshing popsicle on a stick. If the popsicle's there in our hands, we can't help but go for it. Social good can include information that educates the public on both the positive and negative aspects of our culture. Technology, including its use, interaction with, and its implications, is a hot topic. As for the design of the poster, I wanted a strong graphic that created immediate impact. The title of the piece needed to be clear. It included a main title accompanied by a lengthy subtitle. I chose two contrasting typefaces: a feminine, alluring script with a modern sans serif. If I were to redo this, I would choose a warmer color for the phone itself to contrast the blue background, give the product more depth/volume, and add a wood texture to the popsicle stick. This is an important topic to me since I have a preteen and teen who have their own devices. I am concerned about the addictive nature and allure of screen time on the family.
