FedEx is one of many logos we see today that demonstrates the art of subliminal messaging. In 1994, the current logo we associate with FedEx was created. The logo was designed using “Univers 67” and “Futura” in order to create an arrow between the letters “E” and “x”. This design works because it is memorable. The typefaces are simple, so the logo is easy to read and is recognizable from a distance. The arrow made from negative space between the “E” and “x” reinforces the company’s services that they ship goods because arrows can symbolize movement. “Fed” is written in purplish blue which contrast nicely with orange “Ex”. The logo has worked so well there has been no changes except for different colors being used for “Ex” to represent different services. An orange “Ex” is express, red is freight, green is ground, blue is office, and yellow is trade network.
