This graphic of fire extinguisher instructions is similar to the one that had suspended from the walls of my high school’s hallways. On the right side, it shows images with brief text explaining how to operate the fire extinguisher, while on the left side it gives information about the personnel qualified to install the device as well as information on when it needs to be inspected and cautions to be taken when using it. The division of these two sides by a vertical line is very important. On one side it expresses what is needed to maintain the fire extinguisher so it can be ready in case of a fire. On the other side, brief text allows people to quickly understand how to utilize the fire extinguisher in an emergency. Graphics are there to help support what the text is saying. This is well designed because people don’t have time to read a lot of information during an emergency where every second counts. To be able to comprehend the necessary information quickly is very important.
