I thought the layout and solution used in the Johnny Cash concert poster was well done. Since the announcement was printed as a poster, it can easily be displayed on walls of public places such as bus stops and subway stations. I thought that using a picture of Johnny Cash as a substitute for the letter “A” in the word “Cash” was brilliant. It adds visual interest and helps it pop out from other posters that could be affixed nearby. The bold san-serif text with the alternating colors of black and orange makes the message standout and can be read from a distance. The poster has only the minimal information by just giving the place, date, time, performer, and contact information. They give only the minimal information about this event in order to allow people to read it quickly without being overloaded with unnecessary information. Additionally, if the poster was posted somewhere like a subway station, people might be in a hurry to get from one train to another or from a train to work so they would not have a lot of time to read a detail paragraph about information on the event. Posters like these I find to be interesting because it shows me that sometimes “less is more” and it is important to consider what typefaces, sizes, and colors can help capture attention of people.
