In Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, the author used pattern poetry to construct an image of the mouse's tail. He did this by using descending type sizes and organizing the text so it would flow well. I thought this a very interesting way to reinforce what the passage is saying about the mouse’s tail through visual representation. This is a well-designed layout. This page shows me that not all text has to be set in a normal paragraph layout for people to understand what is being communicated. Instead, you can be expressive with the organization of text on a page to add visual interest. People could look at this page and wonder why it is shaped like a tail, thus it would draw them into reading the passage to find out.
