In 1975 NASA switched to a modernist logotype nicknamed the “worm”. The NASA logotype was retired from official use in 1992. The logotype was reduced to its most simplified form. The strokes were all one width, meant to evoke the qualities of unity and technical precision. The cross strokes on the two “A” letters were eliminated, giving it a unique quality. The warm shade of red was meant to reflect the lively and future-oriented character of NASA. I personally like that NASA switched back to its other logo. This one looks futuristic but seems like it's trying too hard to have that identity. My personal connection with NASA is that my grandma works at the space station in Florida and I have been there a few times.
