For this interactive design post, I chose to show the home page of Etsy's website. I spend a lot of time on this site and that's why I've chosen to post about it. Overall, I think the home page is designed well. It utilizes negative space and the designer didn't feel the need to feel all of the white space which would probably make the page look packed and messy. One of the first things you'll notice on the page is the quote "If it's handcrafted, vintage, custom, or unique, it's on Etsy." This quote sums up whats on the site. Also, at the bottom of the page, there are subtitles saying "Unique everything", "Independent sellers", and "secure shopping". These are obviously all important aspects for Etsy and the designer decided to put those points on the first page you see when visiting the site. At the top of the page there is a search bar and right below that there are links to popular items that they think that you might want to search for. I think that this is a good idea because it's likely that a visitor of the site would be looking for one of the items listed at the top and the links make it easy for them to find what they are looking for. Lastly, there are a couple pictures items that can be bought on the site. This gives any visitor of the site what kind of quality they can expect from the products sold through Etsy.
