Many Americans are familiar with Baskin Robbins and it has become an important part of iconic American culture. The current logo we know today was designed in 2005. The logo consists of a capital B and R written in blue and pink with “baskin robbins” written below it in lowercase, blue san serif type and is encircled in a two-ring blue and pink circle on a white background. The pink in the logo is supposed to be reminiscent of the pink spoons Baskin Robbins gives their customers while the blue and white represents excellent quality and reliability. The capital B and R consists of blue strokes on the outer part of the letter while the lobes of the B and the stem of the R are pink to create the number 31. The 31 is a reference to their 31-flavor slogan. Many of their earlier logo designs consisted of the 31 being separate from the words. However, since their brand is very well-known the designer is taking into an account what consumers already know about the brand, and they simplified it to create a unique and upbeat logo. The logo is evident that a good designer can look at letters and numbers and manipulate them to create original layouts. I can appreciate the chances the designer was taking here. I think this was a good design solution and much more visually interesting to look at than the older Baskin Robin logos.
