Herb Lubalin and Tom Carnase designed “Mother & Child” masthead for Curtis magazine. The “o” in Mother encircles the ampersand with the word “child” in the ampersand making a representation of a child in its mother’s womb. This logo is very expressive by creating an image out of typography that reinforces the words’ meaning. Logos like this never fail to inspire me because there is something very captivating and humanistic about it. People are more likely to feel a connection and be drawn to something when they feel they can relate to it. The artists realized this and created a connection people often infer about mothers, they love and care for their children and the logo shows this relationship and invokes the emotions of love in the viewer. This logo never stops awing me at just how beautiful the artists drew this logo.
