Eddie Opara created the digital facade of the King Power MahaNakhon in Bangkok, Thailand. This facade goes beyond just using graphics. His innovative design uses LED screens called cassettes that fit together. The screens are programmed to display information such as the temperature, the weather, time and date, along with livefeed from Vogue, and financial index values. His digital facade lights up the building making it a point of focus among its surroundings and gives the building a contemporary feel. This environmental design serves as both informational graphics and as an exterior design of the building. Here the artist created something unique that can change as needed, something consumers can appreciate in an age of consistently changing streams of information and data. The mix of graphics, typography, and video fit together and create unity and variety in the layout. The artist is aware of the power of technology and his choice and ambition to create this design solution creates a piece people can interact with.
