This is the logo for the contacts app on iPhone. It was designed to look like the address books people used before the invention of mobile phones that could keep track of peoples information. The colorful tabs on the side resemble those used to keep the book in alphabetical order, and the silhouettes of the man and woman represent the purpose of the app- keeping information about contacts organised. The functionality of the app itself also works in ways that resemble those of actual address books. If you tap one of the letters on the right side of the screen, you can jump directly to that section rather than scrolling all the way down. In an actual address book you would use the labeled tabs to flip to the part you wanted. I think it's cool that apple and other phone companies take inspiration from older technologies when designing these apps. This type of design helps people of older generations understand their new phones.#interactive
