For this post, I want to talk about a specific typeface and its importance to film. This typeface is called Trajan and has become the most popular font for serious or horror movie posters. The typeface was inspired from the column of the roman emperor Trajan. Trajan looks and feels both stoic and powerful, which gives the moviegoer an idea of what kind of movie they are about to see. It showed up on movie posters for "Titanic", "The Conjuring", "I Am Legend", "Minority Report", and of course, "Pompeii". It still is the go to typeface for horror movies and any film about Rome or Greece. It also is a popular font for any Greek and Roman related material, it can be seen on textbooks, compilations of myths, and many more classical references.
