This is a design that was created to evoke emotion and promote sustainability through showing the earth as if someone was sucking the water out of it through a straw. I think it does in fact get the point that it was created for across. It implies that the inhabitants are wasting the earth's water and natural resources and taking them for granted as if they aren't limited. This design, however, shows accurately that there is a bottom and that if we keep being frivolous with our resources that we could be very close to running out some day.
