This is a directional floor design by a group of designers from Pentagram for Broadway Housing Communities, an organization that develops aesthetically pleasing and affordable housing for homeless and at-risk families in New York. As someone who advocates for better treatment of less fortunate people in our communities, I really enjoy seeing organizations that go the extra mile for their work, such as making the affordable housing look pleasing to the eye. I feel as though this is an effective design because many people that I've encountered in these situations, they are a bit timid because of the circumstances they've endured and tend to keep their eyes low. With this floor design, it will be effective in reaching children whose eyes are closer to the ground and people who keep their heads down.
