Alex Pillow #typography 36

People probably don't ever look at Goldfish packaging from a typography standpoint, however, I believe that Pepperidge Farm took intentional measures to ensure the type on the packaging enticed their target audience. All of the fonts used on the front of the bag contain either a border, drop shadow, or both to stand out among the combination of orange and dark green. They also feel playful and informal, likely aimed at children. The lack of serif fonts adds to the feeling of informality and friendliness. The brand "Goldfish" is the largest sized text, while the type of Goldfish, "Parmesean," is second largest so that a possible consumer will know exactly what flavor of Goldfish they'll be purchasing. I feel like this design is effective in that it has become very recognizable and most children could probably identify the packaging as being Goldfish.
