A few years ago I purchased a replica of an original Woodstock poster to hang in my room. I used to watch videos of some of my favorite bands playing for the crowd of thousands and I always loved the design of the poster itself, so it seemed like a good fit. When I look at the poster, the first 2 things I see are the slogans, "3 Days of Peace & Music," and "No One Attending Will Ever Be The Same." I feel as though this was done intentionally, so that when these posters were distributed around the country, the first thing people saw were those two bylines to pull a viewers interest. Once their attention was grabbed, they'd see the Exposition and location of the event, with the name of the event just above that. Then, towards the left hand center of the poster, they'd see all of the different bands that were going to play, and the date they would play during the 3 active days of the festival. To the right of that section of information are other details regarding the events besides the music, like the art show, crafts, food, and the general space that would be occupied by the festival. This poster was wildly effective in my opinion, as over 400,000 people ended up attending the festival. It has a well formatted hierarchy of information, sticks to one bright color that both the white and black text contrasts well against, and the font reflects the typical "60-70's vibe" of the time.
