This is a logo found commonly around Appalachian’s campus, so I am quite familiar with it. However, I do not think that it is perfect. I think the letterforms themselves are fine, I have a problem with the symbol they used in place of the tiddle on the “i” however. The bird itself is offcentered, making it appear to be floating between the “i” and the “a”. This makes it appear to either be a ligature of the two letters or something completely unrelated to either of them. I feel that the bird is just distracting and does nothing to benefit the logo. I think it would be better if they centered and shrank the bird, or if they just removed the bird entirely and came up with a different idea for the tiddle that is less distracting.
