This is a page from a cookbook my parents got as a gift, the Moosewood Cookbook. One really cool thing about this cookbook is that it is actually hand lettered. This creates a unique experience for the reader, while the handwriting is very professional and clear, it provides a layer of intimacy to the experience of cooking with it. The paper is an off white, and the text is not typed out, this takes away the almost monotonous cleanliness of a normal cookbook. When you read through it, it is as if you are reading a hand written family cookbook- the only thing missing is the food stains. The little illustrations also add to this intimacy. I can imagine someone writing down old family recipes, while also doodling the ingredients in the margins.
