This is an example of environmental typography that I think could be improved. This example applies inspirational quotes to stairs in the Cupar Railway Station. I like what the designer was going for, but it could be improved so that people could read it better as they walk. Right now, I am reading it as "you are stay where going to are not...". the quote actually reads "The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are." If the order was reversed, so that the top steps read "the first step towards getting somewhere..." and it went down the stairs that way, people could probably read the message as they walk. No one is going to pause at the top of a set of stairs in a busy subway to read this quote, they would hold up traffic. While I like the concept of this project and its message, it just needs to be a bit more practical.
